Whether You Think You Can or Think You Can't, Either Way, You're Right

In relationships today, be they personal, professional or romantic, confidence can do 50% of your work for you.  Self confidence is the key to success.   It has often been said that 70% of what you communicate is non-verbal.  So what are you saying about yourself before you even utter a word?
Picture yourself walking into your boss’s office… Oh, you are the boss? Okay well, picture yourself walking up to a complete stranger that you are attracted to.  How do you look? What message do you communicate the moment you walk into the room? What are your eyes, hands and shoulders saying?
What information can people gather about you before you ever say a word? Never thought about it? You should!
Many people are born with self confidence, but it most certainly can be learned.  Many of my friends today would out right laugh in my face if I told them that I was once a very shy, timid, mouse of a girl.  My self-confidence was so low that even when I knew I did a great job on something, I second guessed myself into being a total wreck.  I was too shy to speak

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10, 2011 – First Lady Michelle Obama today announced a private sector commitment to hire 100,000 veterans and military spouses by 2014, bringing to at least 125,000 the total commitment in response to President Barack Obama’s recent hiring challenge.
The International Franchise Association, which represents 1,100 franchises, has committed to hiring 80,000 veterans and military spouses by 2014 – with 5,000 jobs reserved for wounded warriors, Mrs. Obama said during a keynote address at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Business Steps Up: Hiring our Heroes event here.  Also, the first lady said the Military Spouse Employment Partnership has committed to employing 20,000 military spouses by 2014. Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, helped launch the partnership at the Chamber of Commerce last summer. The partnership includes nearly 100

Style File #1: Accessories

Style File #1: Accessories
Ever picked out a perfect outfit, tried it on, fits great.  Get it home, adore it.  A few days later, outfit on, make up done, ready to strut your stuff because you know you are bad… Look in the mirror… What the What?  Outfit just looks… #FaceFrownedUp… PLAIN.
Let me help.  It is easy to ruin a great outfit by choosing not so great or NO accessories.  On the flip, it’s just as easy to make a homely outfit great with the right finishing touches.  This is true for ensembles that you wear to work, on the weekend, or for a night out on the town.  PSA: this also holds true for men.   A coworker of mine, who dresses really nice I may add, was admiring another co-workers necklace and commented, “You all accessorize very well.  I need to learn to use accessories.”  Upon hearing this, I shared my love of accessories and my thoughts on how if done right, they make you tastefully standout-ish.  She interjected, “Yeah, but it is so high

AVG(Passive + AGGRESSIVE) = AsSeRtIvE

Why is it so hard for women to be viewed equally as adept as men in business?  I know my job and do it well, so why am I getting paid less???  Men have known it all along, but few women have had the mentorship to teach us that to be successful and get what you want from your career, you must learn to be assertive and confident.  Women have been socialized to believe that passivity keeps you out of trouble.  Who wants to be the problem child, right?  And those who refuse to be the office doormat, take an extreme measure of being aggressive, you know the angry one who will not be walked over and is not afraid to scream her opisition to ANY issue from the highest desktop!  Both recourses have extreme backlash that women should seek to avoid.  Researchers at Essex University have found that women who can navigate the personality pitfalls in the work place make 5% more than those passive
